Best thing since sliced bread
I have been a fan of Adam Melchor for well over a year now. Let me tell you, this man DOES NOT MISS! The Melchor Lullaby Hotline Vol. 1 is one of the many examples of that. Each song on the mixtape is extraordinary.
The theme song strongly kicks things off. “Moon in the Morning” (my favorite song ever) is one of his best songs lyrically, with vivid imagery and strong storytelling. “Last Time” and “Begin Again” back to back is extremely iconic. “Last Time” gracefully showcases the fear of not seeing someone again. The uptempo “Begin Again” gives me the warmest feeling. “Start Forgetting Death” makes me feel as if I’m ascending to new heights. His cover of My Chemical Romance’s “I’m Not Okay” takes the song to a new level. The harmonies in “Lateral Move” are amazing! “Best Problem”? More like BEST PRODUCTION on the whole project! The wedding edition of “I Choose You” (the original is on Adam’s Summer Camp EP) makes me want to get married ASAP. “No Way of Knowing” gives me and many other listeners so much joy and hope. Even though “itsjustmyheart” is a voice memo, you can still hear the emotions and beautiful tone behind every word. Everything is tied up in a nice bow as the project ends with “Times Square” (recorded on a cassette tape!)
I am super proud of what Adam and his collaborators have created. I’ve had the mixtape on repeat since release. I will continue to play it on repeat for the next few days. Thank you for sharing these wonderful songs with the world Adam!
