this album is so cohesive, yet has a little bit of everything. You can really tell the process he was going through while making these songs. Little bit of old, new, sad, mad, happy- all of it. Album of the Year 2022!
  • Maybe I’m just getting too old..

So I’m 27 and have been a long time fan of all of Chris Brown’s albums. I’ve liked the evolution of his music style and always can appreciate bangers. I think the issue for me at this point, is that the graphic sexual music is now too much of his overall music and too much of the time. I absolutely love the serious tracks that feel raw, the more playful romantic ones and the light-hearted feel good ones…I get it’s R&Bz. (I GET that). But the graphic sexual/drug ones are becoming increasingly cringy for me as a prevalent and continuous theme, cause I know such mature topics can be handled better. In my opinion, I guess I wanted to see more mature music from Chris Brown as a natural progression, since well, we all can’t stay partying 21 year olds forever. Even on this album it’s clear he’s so talented and I love his sound but man, the lyrics on a lot of these songs, I just can’t with most of it. Closure, Surviving the Night, Sleep At Night, Petty are my favorites. Petty sounds so much like the old Chris Brown with its structure, which I appreciated as a nice addition alongside the newer styles of music. It just seems like once Chris Brown found his trendy niche with shock value themes, he’s invested most of his time there. The problem is this doesn’t create timeless, narrows the demographic you appeal to..And eventually…EVENTUALLY, time will even catch up with Chris Brown being relevant as far as trends go. Consider, “Before the Party”, that’s a mixtape I’ve revisited over the years so many times..but that’s just it, it’s a mixtape that shows Chris has deeper sides to him and maturity. Why can’t we see more of that for his actual albums? Either way, I think if he really wants to be a legend, maybe he should cover wider themes with a more sophisticated and classier execution. Is it asking too much? In the face of short term trends and profitability, probably.

First off I went to his concert in Jersey and nothing compares to watching him as a performer and artist up close as it does if I were watching it on television. He is just unbelievably talented and you can tell he takes his craft seriously the precision the work ethic the aesthetic of his performance everything was on point. He performed so many songs he even did songs from other albums that he had in previous years. When you want a performance Chris Brown is going to give it to you he’s going to show you why God gave him the gift to be a music artist and performer. I think this album is one of his best when I compared to other albums i’ve purchased from him in the past there’s a little bit of every type of song for each kind of person if you’re going through an emotional break up if you just fell in love with someone if you want to steal someone’s girl he gives you everything imaginable when you listen to the content behind the beats. To really understand this album you have to know who Chris Brown has become overtime and how he’s evolved. Everyone may not agree with me and that’s cool but if you’re real breezy fan then you know this album has more hits than Mrs. there’s probably only two that aren’t my absolute favorite but I still rock with Breezy at the end of the day because he just is who he is and his talent speaks for itself and his music just keeps getting more matured over time like fine wine. And the Afrobeats collaboration that he did for two songs on this album with WizKid and Davido there’s nothing left to say he’s just as touching on every genrePossible in one album. #Teambreezyforever personally also now that I’ve seen him perform up close and personal I have a different level of appreciation for his music now more than I did just listening to it in previous years I respect his craft and the artistry that he puts into it.

Really great album. Chris, maybe you could feature some legendary musical artists on your next album like Flo Rida, Pitbull, and maybe even T-Pain, Sean Paul, Ludacris, Wisin & Yandel and even feature David Guetta & Afrojack. Keep up the great work.
