  • Worth another Listen

I remember not loving this album when it first came out. Of course, In Waves and Built to Fall are great songs, but I was so in love with Shogun, it was hard to hear anything different. I've recently been revisiting this I judged it too harshly before. The album has great songwriting and holds up really well. Shogun is a once in a lifetime album- and probably the best metal album of the last 20 years, easily- but it's unfair to always compare them to that. Each album has it's own personality and there are different easons to enjoy them.

I love this album but idk if the album is supposed to have parts in the songs where it sounds like it's skipping on a cd It's weird Idk if it was just the way I downloaded it or if that's how it is supposed to be But I like it anyways

One of the best Heavy Metal albums I've heard in a long time! I recommend this album to whoever is a metal head and likes Growling and Screaming

I have always been a fan of the musicianship of Trivium and this album has a bunch of solid songs. They are great live and they are keeping real metal alive. Great Record and the documentary was awesome.
  • Well....

To me nothing they do will ever be over ascendency, shogun, and the crusade. It isn't bad by any means which is why I gave it 5 stars it just doesn't have the raw power of their previous albums. It feels way too mainstream. But hey if the mainstream really sounded like this maybe I wouldn't hate it so much.
  • An Intricate Work by a Maturing Band

    By Zipo_Bibrok5x10^8
I am newly a fan of Trivium. A friend recommended them to me, and this is the first album of theirs that I've really sat down and listened to all the way through, so I don't know well the sound they had on their previous albums (esp. Ascendancy). Listening to this work, I hear an intricate combination of melodeath, metalcore and thrash sounds, and I really appreciate the vocal dexterity that's presented. And though there are some songs I really don't like (A Skyline's Severance and Forsake Not The Dream), I dislike them more for simplistic lyrics than for their sound. Overall, I'd say it's a very solid work that could have been improved by just a little more attention to detail -- but I'm definitely not complaining.

This is an amazing album. "Black" is an incredible song. Trivium is an awesome band and their next album is going to be perfect!
